Artist duo
The paintings of the Reisingers are considered to be contemporary realism within the genre “still life”. The talented duo Roman Reisinger (Amsterdam, 12-14-1970) and Henriëtte Reisinger (Utrecht, 12-02-1970) are noticed for more then 20 years by various well-known art critics and their leading still lifes are collected by art collectors all over the world. The two are known for their great technical mastery and innate sense for composition. Their paintings are characterized as thoughtful, sensitive and refined.
Painting reality Who looks at a painting by the Reisingers from a distance is struck by the photographic precision. But who comes closer sees that the precision is reached by painterly means: the choice of paint thickly applied or just transparent, sharp framing of fluid contours, representation of lighting and shades and a changing brush stroke. The paintings are not careful representation of reality, but a reflection on how the artist sees and experiences each object and detail. Reisinger himself calls it “manipulating reality”.
Teamwork The paintings by the Reisingers are the result of exceptional teamwork. Henriëtte Reisinger envisions the concepts. She composes and chooses from a multitude of ideas the most potential ones. Roman has adopted the painting technique of the 17th-century Dutch masters. This technique enables him to paint realistically and in great detail. “Painting with traditional methods is a means to achieve perfection”. “The way of cooperation that Henriëtte and Roman have developed may be called unique. There must be a basis that to us is both interesting and difficult and from there we work step by step to a very personal work of art.”
